How is Droppey different from Starship or Serve Robotics?

Starship and Serve are US-built platforms expanding into Europe through translation. Droppey is the opposite: a Polish company designing for Polish streets from day one. Our Droplets are tuned for cobblestones, tram tracks, and −20°C winters. Our routing AI knows Wrocław’s market days and festival closures. Our interface ships in Polish, English and Ukrainian — not English with a Polish translation layer bolted on.

Why launch in Wrocław first, not Warsaw?

Three reasons. (1) Density: Wrocław has Poland’s highest concentration of robotics and software talent per capita. (2) Regulatory openness: the city is actively partnering with autonomous mobility pilots and we already have working relationships at the airport. (3) Operational fit: 110,000 students, a compact city core, and a sidewalk network we can master in one season. Warsaw is the second city, not the first.

Who builds the robot hardware?

Accepted Answer

The Droplet is a Droppey-engineered platform. Hardware is produced through a vetted European manufacturing partner under exclusive supply terms; we don’t disclose them publicly for competitive reasons. Droppey owns the software stack end-to-end — Hive Mind, the merchant platform, fleet operations, and the local playbook.

What’s the regulatory path in Poland?

Sidewalk delivery robots fall under Polish road traffic law as “personal transporter” devices subject to local municipal approval. We’re working with Wrocław city authorities, UTK (Office of Rail Transport) and the airport authority on a Q2 2027 pilot framework. Our Droplets operate at pedestrian speed and yield to humans — the regulatory bar is materially lower than for autonomous cars.

How does the pricing model work?

Robots-as-a-Service. Merchants pay a simple flat monthly subscription — no fleet to buy, no drivers to schedule, no per-delivery surprises. Three tiers: Starter (PLN 2,000/mo), Business (PLN 4,000/mo), and Enterprise (PLN 6,500/mo). Full pricing on our /merchants page.

What are your unit economics?

A Droplet completes 12–18 deliveries per shift on a single charge. Amortised over a 5-year hardware lifecycle plus energy plus teleop coverage plus insurance, our flat monthly subscription model is profitable from the first paid merchant. Margins improve at scale as Hive Mind reduces idle time and improves route density across the fleet.

What happens in winter or bad weather?

Droplets are rated IP65 for rain and dust, and their batteries are tested down to −20°C. The chassis has 4-wheel drive and snow-rated tyres. They keep operating through Polish winters — in fact October to March is our peak revenue window because human courier networks slow down most when we don’t.

Is delivery contactless? How does the recipient open the cargo?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Droplet arrives at the delivery address and notifies the recipient via SMS in their preferred language (PL/UA/EN). The recipient enters a unique PIN code on the Droplet’s display and the cargo compartment unlocks. No human contact, no app download required.

When can I become a Droppey customer?

Accepted Answer

Q2 2027 in Wrocław for merchant pilots. Recipients (end consumers) can receive a Droppey delivery from any participating merchant from day one of the pilot — you don’t sign up with Droppey directly. To be a merchant, apply via our anchor partner programme on /contact.
